Hello Michigan IV Members,
I would like to request all IV members living in Michigan to please respond to this thread. We would like to make the MI chapter much more active in our mission to solve many of the problems we face as legal immigrants. I think as a cohesive group, we'll be able to make a greater impact. In an effort to increase aviation security, DHS has announced its "If You See Something, Say Something� campaign which seeks the public�s support in reporting any suspicious aviation activity. Also, DHS will streamline the pre-screening process for passengers and crews traveling to and from the U.S. by allowing the carrier to submit a single manifest to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's on-line data system.

Dear all:
May I ask what I should do in the following situation?
I hold F1 visa and my new job starts on Sept 1. The int'l student office of my current university mistakenly set my OPT start date on May 6. My OPT has been approved and EAD card arrived.
That is, I will have 120-plus "unemployment" days accumulated by early August, which will then violate the "90-day unemployment rule" of OPT.
I am under tremendous pressure and really want to hear your opinions.

I am starting this thread for the people who are Greencard Holders and not married. Please share some thoughts for bringing their spouse here.
IV can help in this matter.
If all visa holders and citizens can bring their spouse instantly then why GC holder have to wait for many years after getting GC after many years.

I work for company A in india which has a subsidary company "B" in US.
On "B"'s request i worked in US for company B from July 2006 to Nov 2006 (for which i have valid pay checks).
I went back to India and worked for A till June and i came to US again to work for Company B.
Now as soon as i entered US, i have applied for a premium H1 company transfer to Company C.
Now i got a query to submit my Pay checks which i do not have as i resigned Company B after coming to US.
Please suggest me whats the ideal way to answer this query...

Hi,
My H1B is with USCIS and my employer has received an intent to revoke.
I am planning to go on H4 and my questions are
1) Can my employer file for a new H1B ANYTIME regardless of whether my H1B is revoked or not? I heard that since i am already counted against the cap, it doesnt matter when the H1B is filed, once approved i could start work immediately. Is this true?
Or this can be done only till my earlier H1B is not revoked? And if revoked i will have to file H1B against the 2011 quota and start work from October?
Appreciate any response!!

I am currently starting a language institute in California. I incorporated the organization 2 years ago, but I am starting it now. I want to hire a Brazilian national on an h2b visa to teach Portuguese but I am worried that as I am starting the business now and haven't generated income yet I won't be allowed to hire this teacher. Is this something I should worry about? Thank you for any help. I appreciate it.

Say, there seems to be some confusion over the which is the SKIL bill and which is the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (CIRA).
GovTrack lists the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act as S.2611, sponsored by Sen. Arlen Spector. This was the bill that the Senate passed on 05/25/06. OK easy enough.
If I do a search for securing knowledge innovation in GovTack, S.2691 pops up, sponsor Sen. John Cornyn. OK all good.
